Bringing Midwifery Back

The Midwifery Model of Care

Midwifery model of care is the oldest community care in history. Before the 1920’s over 90% of families sought the care of midwives. As hospitals became mainstream, so did the destruction of traditional community care. Midwives not only attended births, they nurtured communities through sicknesses for many generations. The first documented midwife is dated back to the Bible’s Old Testament.

Midwifery care is medical care for low risk women. Midwifery care is sacred, informed, safe and family-centered. When working with a community midwife, you will access to medical practices that allows you to make informed decisions regarding your health. Midwives encourage community resources such as Doulas, body specialist, educators and therapist.
